Position Summary: The EHS Manager is accountable for the environmental, health and safety functions for the home building facility. This role implements and ensures compliance with environmental and safety training activities and programs to create a safe and healthy workplace. The EHS Manager identifies and eliminates hazards, reduces accidents, and lessens the business impact on the environment. This role influences plant leadership and teams to improve environmental and safety efforts. The EHS Manager collaborates with Home Office management regarding environmental and safety training programs as required. This role monitors and maintains environmental, safety and health programs for plant team members. Responsibilities Environmental: Maintain all record keeping and conduct activities necessary for environmental compliance (monthly material usage records, storm water, air permitting, etc.). Conduct site visits with environmental consultants (STRATA) and complete required training. Champion ISO certification/surveillance efforts, lead the EHS Committee, and participate in Objectives and Targets Team Meetings. Lead the ISO Coordinator duties when available (refer to Environmental/ISO Coordinator job description). Health: Promote team health by working with the wellness coordinator to encourage good eating, physical fitness and mental health. Demonstrate personal wellness through ongoing improvement. Safety / Workers’ Compensation: Conduct and complete Injury and Illness reporting with the injured team member, Area Coordinator, and Team Leader/Manager after thorough investigations. Ensure post-accident drug screens as required. Notify the appropriate parties within 24 hours. Serve as the workers’ compensation liaison and participate in quarterly loss run reviews. Maintain OSHA 300 log, administer Return-to-Work program, and report monthly metrics to Home Office EHS Director. Manage workers’ compensation with the insurance carrier to reduce lost time and fraudulent claims. Coordinate monthly safety committee meetings and inspections, recording minutes and implementing changes based on committee feedback. Coordinate loss control visits with property carrier and Fortier loss control personnel and complete corrective actions within 30 days. Conduct regular safety meetings and facility inspections to identify and address hazards. Ensure compliance with applicable OSHA standards and internal policies. Participate in incident investigations and complete Near Miss or Lost Time Case studies. Administer Hearing Conservation Program and Job Hazard Analysis, and train First Responders in First Aid/CPR/AED as required. Maintain MSDS binder and provide team binders in manufacturing facilities. Training: Develop and conduct required OSHA training programs, keep Safety and Health Manual updated, and maintain records of completed safety training. Ensure forklift, tractor and other powered industrial truck operators are trained and licensed as required. Conduct effective New Hire Orientation safety training. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Studies or related field. 3-5 years of related experience. Bilingual Spanish-speaking is preferred, but not required. General understanding of federal, state, local, and company regulations related to EPA/OSHA practices, state workers’ compensation programs, and ISO programs. Experience in safety culture and industrial environments preferred. Strong people/leadership and presentation skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint. Physical Demands Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs. Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, crawl, push, and pull as needed. Effective communication via phone, email, and in person; ability to convey accurate information. Work environment may be not temperature controlled with exposure to extreme temperatures. Primarily sedentary or standing activity, up to 4 hours at a time.
