Job Description

Educational Leadership–P12 Administration Assistant Professor Position: Tenure-Track, Fall 2026 (August 2026). The Kremen School of Education and Human Development at California State University, Fresno (Fresno State) invites applicants for a tenure-track, academic-year position as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Educational Leadership, working in the P12 Administration and Doctoral Programs in Educational Leadership. The successful candidate will teach graduate students at the master's and doctoral degree levels; advise students in cohort expectations, fieldwork, and culminating experiences, including doctoral dissertations; supervise administrator internships; conduct research and write grants in the field of educational leadership; and engage in service-related activities in the field, community, and across the university setting. Fresno State is designated as a Hispanic Serving Institution (HSI) and an Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution (AANAPISI). The university has a long history of service and preparation of educators, and the Kremen School offers credentials, master’s programs, and an Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. Fresno State holds R2 Status, Doctoral University — High Research Activity, in the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education. The Department of Educational Leadership prepares candidates to lead in educational organizations in the Central Valley of California and beyond. We offer three graduate programs: the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership, the Master of Arts in Higher Education Administration and Leadership (HEAL), and the P12 Administration Program. The P12 Administration Program integrates the Master of Arts in Educational Leadership and Administration (ELA) with the California Preliminary Administrative Services Credential, accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) and AAQEP. The Fresno State P12 Administration Program advances equity-driven school administrators through coursework and embedded fieldwork experiences, featuring high expectations, mastery learning, and cohorts of individuals currently employed in education. The program follows a three-semester sequential progression and is based on the California Administrator Performance Expectations. Candidates apply theoretical and scholarly concepts, knowledge, and leadership skills to lead schools and districts. Responsibilities Teach graduate courses at the master’s and doctoral levels; advise and mentor students in cohort expectations, fieldwork, and culminating experiences (including dissertations). Supervise administrator internships; engage in scholarly research and grant writing in educational leadership; participate in service activities across the university, field, and community. Contribute to program development and accreditation efforts; participate in program assessment and continuous improvement initiatives. Qualifications Required Education (from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent): An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in educational leadership, or organizational leadership with emphasis at the P12 level, or other related area from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent. Applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered; however, for appointment, the doctorate must be completed by August 1, 2026. Required Experience Teaching experience at the P12 level and/or higher education level; Leadership experience as a P12 administrator; Demonstrated knowledge of state-level and national-level educational policies, current issues, and trends in P12 education; Ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Current cleared administrative services credential or equivalent; California preferred. Evidence of scholarship, such as publications and/or presentations at the state and/or national level. Expertise contributing to P12 educational leadership, including school, district, or community leadership; school improvement; and/or organizational development.
