Position Summary This position involves catching, identifying, and moving birds during flock housing, pullet and spent hen removal, toe/beak trimming, flock vaccinations, house clean‑out & setup, sanitation, mortality disposal, and yard maintenance. Other duties may be assigned. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Rotate tasks of catching birds and holding for vaccination; perform vaccination on birds (20%). Rotate tasks of housing: catch birds, scan wingband for identification, place in pen or trailer as instructed; continue process until all birds are housed (20%). Use wire cutters to remove wing and leg bands and badges from hens prior to live haul; catch spent hens, load into trailer for transport; safely use forklift to remove empty modules from live haul trailer and load filled modules onto trailer; operate trimmer pedals for toenail/beak trimming; euthanize pedigree birds and transport to incinerator (20%). Remove used litter from houses, place new shavings per schedule, maintain litter (15%). Run belts/augers to remove litter and spent feed, transport to shed, operate tractor with loader to mix litter (15%). Other Duties, Responsibilities, and Activities Other duties may change; including fat sampling from euthanized birds for pesticide residue testing, sanitation, disposal, equipment maintenance, and vegetation control (10%). Biosecurity / Animal Welfare Requirements Site is biosecure: employees must shower, change clothing and footwear before entering; no jewelry except medical ID; must sign agreement to avoid avian species and comply with company biosecurity and animal welfare guidelines. Physical Demands and Work Environment Ability to perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, stooping, carrying up to 18 lbs per hand, lifting cargo up to 35 lbs, and operating equipment up to 90 lbs. Tasks performed on concrete floor; use of hand equipment and power tools; range of environments: wet, slippery, hot, dry, dusty, cold. Personal protective equipment required: goggles, gloves, waterproof apron, rubber boots, facial covering, hearing protection. Safety responsibilities: follow safety policies, hazard communication, respiratory protection, lockout/tagout, PPE.
